Current Projects
I had often thought that there is not that much difference between being a ghost-writer and having to write reports for senior officers, in the military. Of course, the same applies within the corporate world. Consequently, I was initially interested to start writing as a ghost-writer; well, that was my original intention. But....
Hazel - The Spy from Tasmania
AN EXTENSIVE BIOGRAPHY IN SEVEN PARTS (BOOKS)
After settling in Tasmania, I was approached by a woman, who knew that I had recently retired from the Military. She explained to me that she wanted to find out what her aunt did during the Second World War, believing it was something to do with “Intelligence”. She provided me with eight pages of recollections typed by her aunt, some of them quite cryptic, but all about her life; along with a collection of photos, postcards, letters and diaries.
Well, this was going to be a ghost-written biography for the niece to have for her family history; all about dear aunt “Hazel”. However, I spent eleven months researching and we were astounded with what I had discovered. After much discussion it was decided to continue the project as a series of “novels” based on the true facts of “Hazel’s” life. Hazel was a woman who seemed to travel all her life, and although she was born in Tasmania, her home base initially was London.
A few of the things I discovered: an air crash; the Commonwealth Secret Service; a dream job travelling and writing; escaping from Germany at the start of WW2; joining Special Branch (MI5), Bletchley Park; Bermuda with Bill Stevenson (A Man Called INTREPID), Barbados and Jamaica; UNRAA in China; rescued from the Suez Canal Crisis; Beirut and Kim Philby… but there is much more.
James Bond, step aside and let this real life ‘Jill Bond’ shine!
Potential for a series of films, or several Mini-Series.
Each book is about 80-100K words. I’m now working on Book Seven and I’m hoping to complete this exciting project with Book Eight. This is the newly unearthed and untold life of a most remarkable woman, who was born in Launceston, Tasmania.
Do I have another Project in the wind? Oh Yes, but this one is to do with the longest Criminal Trial in Tasmanian History.
